‘ট্যাকটিক্যাল বেল্ট’পরে মহান বিজয় দিবসের দিন থেকে দায়িত্ব পালন শুরু করেছে পুলিশ। বুধবার থেকে অত্যাধুনিক এ বেল্ট পরে কাজ শুরু করেন ডিএমপি ও সিএমপির পুলিশ সদস্যরা। শাহবাগ ও রমনা এলাকায় পুলিশ সদস্যদের এ বেল্ট পরে দায়িত্ব পালন করতে দেখা গেছে।

প্রাথমিকভাবে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশে (ডিএমপি) সাত হাজার এবং চট্টগ্রাম মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশে (সিএমপিতে) তিন হাজার ট্যাকটিক্যাল বেল্ট দেয়া হয়েছে। ডিএমপির রমনা বিভাগে অত্যাধুনিক এ বেল্ট পেয়েছেন ১২২ পুলিশ সদস্য।

এ নিয়ে রমনা বিভাগের উপপুলিশ কমিশনার মো. সাজ্জাদুর রহমান বলেন, ট্যাকটিক্যাল বেল্ট পেয়ে খুশি পুলিশ সদস্যরা। তবে দীর্ঘদিনের অভ্যাসের একটি বিষয় তো থাকেই। আস্তে আস্তে তারা এতে অভ্যস্ত হয়ে যাবেন। দায়িত্ব পালনে প্রয়োজনীয় সরঞ্জামাদি একসঙ্গে থাকায় কাজ করাও সহজ হবে।

ট্যাকটিক্যাল বেল্টের সঙ্গে থাই হোলস্টার যুক্ত করে সেখানে ছোট আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র, হাতকড়া, ওয়্যারলেস রাখার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া পানির বোতলও রাখার সুযোগ রয়েছে। জরুরি মুহূর্তে দ্রুত মেসেজ আদান-প্রদান নিশ্চিত করতে ওয়্যারলেস সেটের সঙ্গে একটি মাইক্রোফোন জুড়ে দেয়া হয়েছে।

এতে দায়িত্ব পালনের সময় পুলিশ সদস্যরা সেট মুখের কাছে না এনেই মেসেজ আদান-প্রদান করতে পারবেন। নতুন এ অপারেশন গিয়ার চালু করায় পুলিশ সদস্যদের আগের মতো কাঁধে বা হাতে করে অস্ত্র বহন করতে হবে না। হাত ফাঁকা থাকায় জনগণের যেকোনো প্রয়োজনে দুই হাত ব্যবহার করেই সহযোগিতার জন্য পুলিশ সদস্যরা এগিয়ে যেতে পারবেন।
