না ফেরার দেশে চলে গেছেন বরেণ্য অভিনেতা এ টি এম শামসুজ্জামান (ইন্নালিল্লাহি ওয়া ইন্না ইলাহি রাজিউন) ঢাকার সূত্রাপুরের নিজ বাসভবনে শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেছেন তিনি। বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন তার মেয়ে কোয়েল আহমেদ।
২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি সকাল ৯টা ০৬ মিনিটে কান্নাজড়িত কণ্ঠে তিনি বলেন, ‘আব্বা আর নেই। আব্বা আর নেই। শুক্রবার বিকেলে আব্বাকে বাসায় নিয়ে আসছিলাম। উনি হাসপাতালে থাকতে চাইছিলেন না। তাই বাসায় নিয়ে আসছিলাম। আমি রাত ২টা ৩০ মিনিটে আব্বার বাসায় আসছি। অভিনেতা কখন মারা গেছেন জানতে চাইলে ‘জানি না’ বলেই অঝোরে কান্নায় ভেঙ্গে পড়েন তার মেয়ে। বাবার আত্মার শান্তির জন্য দোয়া চেয়েছেন কোয়েল। এর আগে গত বুধবার (১৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সকালে পুরান ঢাকার আজগর আলী হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছিলএ টি এম শামসুজ্জামান। তার অক্সিজেন লেবেল কমে গিয়েছিল হাসপাতালে ডাঃ আতাউর রহমান খানের তত্ত্বাবধানে ছিলেন জনপ্রিয় এ অভিনেতা।
১৯৬৫ সালে অভিনেতা হিসেবে চলচ্চিত্র আগমন হয় এ টি এম শামসুজ্জামানের। ১৯৭৬ সালে চলচ্চিত্রকার আমজাদ হোসেনের ‘নয়নমণি’ সিনেমায় খল চরিত্রে অভিনয় করে আলোচনায় আসেন তিনি। এরপর তিনি একের পর অসংখ্য সিনেমা, নাটক উপহার দিয়েছেন।
